Description

A refined French circular occasional table of the late 19th century, finely crafted in richly figured rosewood veneers. The top is executed in elaborate parquetry and marquetry, centred by a floral medallion, and encircled by a finely cast gilt-bronze (ormolu) gallery that complements the depth and warmth of the rosewood.
The frieze is extensively decorated with scrolling ormolu mounts of high quality, crisply cast and repeated at each leg. The table is raised on four gently tapering rosewood legs, each embellished with vertical gilt-bronze mounts and terminating in decorative sabots. A shaped undertier stretcher unites the legs, centred by a carved finial, providing both visual balance and structural strength.
This table exemplifies late 19th-century French decorative taste, combining fine cabinetmaking with richly worked ormolu.
