A finely executed console table in the Regency revival taste, constructed in richly figured mahogany and adorned with extensive gilt-metal mounts. The rectangular top is inset with a striking variegated marble panel, displaying warm amber and cream veining, and is enclosed by a pierced gilt-brass gallery with shaped central break to the front.
The frieze is particularly decorative, featuring applied scrolling foliate ornament in gilt, interspersed with square paterae blocks, all crisply cast and contrasting elegantly against the polished timber ground. The table is raised on six slender, tapering legs with fluted detail and further gilt-metal embellishment, terminating in turned feet. A shaped under-tier below provides both structural integrity and useful display space, edged with a delicate gilt border echoing the upper decoration.
